US Saturn confident and will carry rival products for customers to ...

Disappointed with soft sales for the Saturn Aura, winner of the 2007 North American Car of the Year award, General Motors is embarking on a bold strategy: having Honda Accord and Toyota Camry models at U.S. Saturn dealers, so buyers can directly compare the rival brands.

"In that side-by-side comparison, we come out really well," Mark LaNeve, head of North American sales and marketing for General Motors, told CNNMoney.com.

Toyota, meanwhile, didn't seem worried. "I think we can stand up to the comparison," Toyota spokesman Wade Hoyt told CNNMoney.com.

"They talk down the competition all the time, so this is just taking it one step further."

Car shoppers will be able to test-drive the rival models at Saturn dealers, but, obviously, they will not be able to purchase them there should they prefer a rival product.

Ford Denies Plan To Sell Volvo - Update

(RTTNews) - Tuesday, Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker Ford Motor Co. (F | charts | news | PowerRating) said it was not in discussions to sell its Swedish unit Volvo to BMW or any other company. The company denied Swedish newspaper Goteborgs Posten reports, that said the company was aiming a sale of its Volvo brand to German carmaker BMW. The U.S. automaker in a statement said, "Ford Motor Company is not in discussions with BMW or any other company regarding an interest in the Volvo Car Corporation,"

While analysts see no urgent need for the automaker to rush into a sale, many feel that the company is burning cash and can remain open to such an option if they can get a good price for Volvo.

Tuesday, Wall Street Journal said though rumor of a sale has been making the rounds a sell-off might make some sense -- at first glance.

Three critically injured at I-35, I-37

Three motorists who stopped to change a tire were in critical condition Sunday after an oncoming vehicle spun out of control and struck them, police said.

The accident, which occurred around 1 p.m., forced temporary closure of the exit from Interstate 35 South to Interstate 37 South as officers investigated the incident.

A Chevy Tahoe, driven by a 56-year-old woman, had parked along the exit shoulder because one of its tires had blown out, said San Antonio Police Sgt. Michael Brown. Two men driving a red Ford Explorer stopped to assist the woman.

As all three stood behind the Tahoe, a green Honda Civic came around the curve in the road and somehow lost control, striking guardrails on both sides of the exit ramp.

The Civic then spun around, striking the three motorists and slamming into the rear of the Tahoe with its back bumper, Brown said.

Kirssi wins Prologue on HP2 Enduro

BMW Motorrad Motorsport team rider Simo Kirssi proved without question that he was the best rider up Erzberg's iron mountain this year when he recorded the fastest time in the Prologue, having already won the twin-cylinder class race two days previously. Finishing ahead of 2006 twin-cylinder class winner David Knight to win the 'Knigsklasse' event for the first time, Simo then recorded a best time of eight minutes 44 seconds to top the results of the Iron Road Prologue. In adding a winning performance in the Prologue to his twin-cylinder class victory Simo made it a perfect two from two for the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team and their HP2 motorcycles at the 2007 Erzberg event. With the 500 fastest riders in the Prologue qualifying to start Sunday's Hare Scramble, Kirssi - although well aware that he would only be competing in the Hare Scramble for fun aboard his 1200cc HP2 Enduro - set about bettering the time that earned him victory in Thursday's twin-cylinder race.

Ford's End-of-Era Sale?

Jaguar is the preferred mode of transport for Britain's political and financial elite. Land Rover provides the nation's aristocratic set with wheels. But they have been poor performers for their owner, Ford Motor Co., which may be putting both iconic brands on the block.

Given the state of those brands, the U.S. car maker may have to settle for a less-than-luxurious price. Still, that's better than diverting precious management attention from more-pressing matters back home in Detroit.

Ford, which has hired investment bankers to evaluate options for Jaguar and Land Rover, doesn't break out results for either marque. This makes ...

Jobe's walkoff grand slam helps CHS finish off Blanchard

After giving up four runs in the third-inning roll, Lambeth held the Chicks off with six straight routine infield outs but he was running on fumes coming out for the sixth.

Josh Gresham hit him hard for a flyout to deep center then he plunked Braden Cook. He walked Dalton Shepherd then got Korey Keef to pop up for the second out.

But Chance Thomas and Tylor Lee killed him with back-to-back deep counts that they worked into back-to-back walks to load the bases and the Lions got out the hook.

Jobe was due. One of the best Chickasha clutch hitters had walked and grounded out twice so he was very due.

So he watched Stevens warm up and waited.

Once in the box, he got right to work, fouling off two fastballs as he looked for the right one.

It came in low, right in his power zone and it left the yard over the right-center field wall like a rocket.
