US Saturn confident and will carry rival products for customers to ...

Disappointed with soft sales for the Saturn Aura, winner of the 2007 North American Car of the Year award, General Motors is embarking on a bold strategy: having Honda Accord and Toyota Camry models at U.S. Saturn dealers, so buyers can directly compare the rival brands.

"In that side-by-side comparison, we come out really well," Mark LaNeve, head of North American sales and marketing for General Motors, told CNNMoney.com.

Toyota, meanwhile, didn't seem worried. "I think we can stand up to the comparison," Toyota spokesman Wade Hoyt told CNNMoney.com.

"They talk down the competition all the time, so this is just taking it one step further."

Car shoppers will be able to test-drive the rival models at Saturn dealers, but, obviously, they will not be able to purchase them there should they prefer a rival product.

Ford Denies Plan To Sell Volvo - Update

(RTTNews) - Tuesday, Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker Ford Motor Co. (F | charts | news | PowerRating) said it was not in discussions to sell its Swedish unit Volvo to BMW or any other company. The company denied Swedish newspaper Goteborgs Posten reports, that said the company was aiming a sale of its Volvo brand to German carmaker BMW. The U.S. automaker in a statement said, "Ford Motor Company is not in discussions with BMW or any other company regarding an interest in the Volvo Car Corporation,"

While analysts see no urgent need for the automaker to rush into a sale, many feel that the company is burning cash and can remain open to such an option if they can get a good price for Volvo.

Tuesday, Wall Street Journal said though rumor of a sale has been making the rounds a sell-off might make some sense -- at first glance.

Three critically injured at I-35, I-37

Three motorists who stopped to change a tire were in critical condition Sunday after an oncoming vehicle spun out of control and struck them, police said.

The accident, which occurred around 1 p.m., forced temporary closure of the exit from Interstate 35 South to Interstate 37 South as officers investigated the incident.

A Chevy Tahoe, driven by a 56-year-old woman, had parked along the exit shoulder because one of its tires had blown out, said San Antonio Police Sgt. Michael Brown. Two men driving a red Ford Explorer stopped to assist the woman.

As all three stood behind the Tahoe, a green Honda Civic came around the curve in the road and somehow lost control, striking guardrails on both sides of the exit ramp.

The Civic then spun around, striking the three motorists and slamming into the rear of the Tahoe with its back bumper, Brown said.
